Yesterday was the last day of art camp and the kids finished up their face jugs. They sure had some wild and crazy faces! We had a blast finishing up the pots and glazing today. For those of you who aren't familiar with "face jugs" the vessels are a form of American folk art that are believed to have originated out of the South Carolina slave potters. The originals were created in the early 1800's. They were functional artistic expressions of the African slave culture.
