Explore and create basic forms and functions of ceramic ware for eating, cooking, and general use in the kitchen. Students will work from historic shapes as well as everyday forms found in contemporary kitchens. Participants will be encouraged to make everything from bundt cake pans to citrus reamers, and of course, some favorites such as nesting bowls, teapots, and dinner plates. This is a great class for those interested in continuing their experience as hand builders and throwers but it will also be ideal for those who have always wanted to try. Starting the New Year off right!

the new loveseat

Happy New Year!!!! I do hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season and are ready to take on this new year with a fresh charged up mind and spirit! I know I am! I am so excited for this new year, 2009!

I have been busy doing the "new year revamp" giving my house a fresh clean start as well :) I found this amazing beige 2 seater sofa which is in excellent condition in Cincinnati while I was home...there's crazy story behind it but bottom line i got this little beauty for $26 bucks!!! It looks so fabulous in my living room. I also took the navy sofa I had in my studio and brought it home to put in my living room with it. I'm really happy with the "new look".

(You'll have to excuse the two furry beauty queens that are posing in my pictures. they both were sleeping when i started then both sauntered in and posed for my photos...)

twigs

i just finished up my latest commission last week. i had the owner of a local florist shop, Twigs asked me to make custom necklaces for her employees to give them for christmas. each "twig" necklace is one of a kind and different. i hand cut each design out. every necklace had a green twig and a blue leaf. i was delighted with the final products! i have really enjoyed my past two commissions and look forward to doing more!

new rings!

many of you know, i don't have rings very often. the reason behind it was i've never found a source to get good quality ring bases from in bulk. i have good news...i found a girl to make them for me and it gets even better...they're adjustable. now i know when you think "adjustable" you think "cheap", but these are adjustable from the top under the pottery piece, so know one, except the person wearing the ring knows it's adjustable! I am so excited about these rings, they come in square and round. I made a big batch of 20 for last week's first fridays and they flew out the door. i've made a bunch more to help with your christmas list!!!! i've put a few on my etsy shop for sale, but will be adding more soon!!!
i just finished up yesterday a pretty large commission and delivered it; i loved this project and i'll be blogging about it soon...
hope you all are having a wonderful week!

whew!

well, as many of you have contacted me wondering why i haven't been blogging...i've been a "studio hermit" lately! i have had some large commissions come in this past month and on top of getting ready for Christmas, i've been BUSY!
the commission i just finished up for Popcorn Initiative, was my favorite commission yet. i thoroughly enjoyed working with Chris on his custom chirstmas ornaments he sends to his clients every year. i loved his ideas and we worked together to come up with 120 of these sweet birdies. He came in this past week with the finished product and i was floored! i absolutely LOVE what he did! his close attention to detail was stunning. the label on the square tin, christmas card, and tags on the ornament were all letter pressed. the bird was nested in the metal square tin under the card that was perfectly cut to the size of the tin. then he pulled out these lovely letter pressed bookmarks with my logo, a little yellow bird on a branch, and website as a "thank you" for doing his commission!!! how cool is that?!?!?
i told Chris, if i were one his clients, i would be checking the mail every day in December for his package to come!
